Amy & Jake's Wedding at Polhawn Fort - A Preview
Amy and Jake got married this month at the gorgeous Polhawn Fort, which is an old Napoleonic Fort in Torpoint, Cornwall. The venue has the most incredible surroundings and both Amy & Jake share our affinity with the Cornish coast, so we were super excited to be asked to join them for their big day!
The pesky rain kept the couple from having their outdoor ceremony, but luckily their fabulous wedding planner, Gemma from Planning Elegance, had a wonderful plan B! The ceremony was held inside the fort itself, and with its natural stone walls decorated with foliage and fairy lights, it gave the whole ceremony room a rustic, yet romantic feel. I loved the candles and flowers in rum & gin bottles and Jake's expression when the ceremony began and Amy made her way down the aisle was simply beautiful, so much love and emotion. There may or may not be photographic evidence of me wiping away tears whilst shooting that part of the ceremony....!
This is the second wedding I've had the privilege of shooting for the lovely Brothwell family after shooting Kelly & Greg's wedding at Carbis Bay in St Ives, just over 3 years ago. It was amazing to see so many familiar happy faces, a swell as getting to meet their adorable little girl Harli.
After the ceremony the skies cleared and we were able to head down to the beach for some portraits, and I'm not sure who was more excited about this, us or our gorgeous couple! Whilst the venue has so many lovely spots for photo's on the grounds, not to mention some pretty epic scenery, but not having pictures on the cute little secluded beach would have been such a shame. That said, Amy was a super chilled out Bride and something tells me we'd have been on that beach whatever the weather!
Amy & Jake are just the sweetest couple and it was a huge honour to be a part of their big day, so a huge thank you to the newlyweds for having us with you!
Here's a little preview of their gorgeous wedding....
